Your Benefits: Sustainability
Principles of sustainability can add meaningful and lasting social, environmental, and economic benefits to the design, construction, and operation of infrastructure. What does sustainability mean to the CSO Program? The City is using a number of sustainable indicators for the Program including:
- Minimize energy use
- Preserve, enhance or create vegetated area and/or open space with each project
- Use materials with recycled or other environmentally-preferable content
- Divert construction waste from landfill (reused or recycled)
- Replant trees
- Encourage local jobs resulting from project
- Encourage local materials purchased for project
Each project will have specific sustainability goals during design.
