The Lake James to Fontenelle Park Project is intended to remove and/or control flows in the Combined Sewer System which will reduce the frequency, magnitude and duration of combined sewer overflows is intended to remove and/or control flows in the Combined Sewer System which will reduce the frequency, magnitude and duration of combined sewer overflows.
The project is being constructed in two separate construction packages. The construction of the Lagoon Improvements was completed in fall 2018 (OPW 52658).
The sewer separation project is intended to separate portions of the upstream drainage basins to direct additional stormwater for detention in the improved Fontenelle lagoon. By completing separation in the area around the Fontenelle Lagoon, stormwater will be directed to the lagoon and will reduce the risk of basement backups and street flooding in the areas of construction.
The Lake James to Fontenelle Park Sewer Separation construction notice-to-proceed was given in April 2018.
Construction west and north of the park was substantially complete on December 6, 2019.
